The rectangular basin with a moulded rim and rounded corners transitions with a slight bulge into a recessed base. The sculptural treatment creates a clear focal point above the calmly defined basin form. Created in 1947, the work is by Otto Kappeler (1884–1949), an important architectural sculptor of his time.
