The Val d'Osne Foundry was a renowned French iron foundry in the 19th century, famous for its cast-iron artworks. The sculptures and garden ornaments produced by Val d'Osne were often designed in the Neo-Rococoor Neo-Renaissancestyle.

Pierre Louis Rouillard (1820–1881) was an outstanding French sculptor specializing in animal sculptures. As part of the French "Animalière" school, he shared his artistic vision with other renowned sculptors of his time.

From 1840 to 1881, he served as a professor of sculpture at the École des Arts Décoratifs. His works include sculptures for the Opéra de Paris, the Palais du Louvre, and the Fontaine Saint-Michel. His influence even extended to Istanbul, where, commissioned by Sultan Abdulaziz, he created several sculptures, including a bull statue in the Kadıköydistrict.

Rouillard was honored with the Ordre des Palmes Académiques and was named a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor.
